Fedoranblogger's Blog

I’m sure most of you have tried Chowking’s OH!some OH!range Chicken meals, it is indeed OH!some (pronounced as awesome), just like the celebrity endorser Jericho Rosales. Yummy! Yummy! Yup, the Fedoran had met Jericho at Chowking’s 25th Anniversary at Chowking Bonifacio Global City.

From a single store in 1985 to over 400 branches around the Philippines, United States, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Middle East, Filipinos today are never far from a rewarding dining experience at a reasonable price. There are things that Chowking will always deliver, though: a wide variety of items, value for money, and of course, food good enough to get you up on your feet and dance. Now, isn’t that OH!some?

Alongside with Chowking’s anniversary, they also launched the Oh!some Orange Chicken Dance which will have a stint at Showtime by next week. And who’s more fit to teach us the Chicken Dance? Of course no other than Jericho. He’s been so wonderful teaching everyone how to do it. He’s been dancing and rockin’ the place. The night was really fun because of him doing those moves with ease. I’ve spotted Chowking President Erwin Elechicon, Chef Rosebud Benitezand cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao all doing the chicken dance.

OH! one more thing, I’ve already tasted and reviewed the Orange Chicken meal last week even before I got invited to Chowking’s Anniversary party. For those who haven’t read it yet, you may click here.

My idol, the King of Pop Michael Jackson is still setting new music industry records. He has raised the bar so high that even if he’s gone, he is still the undisputed king and I am proud to be his fan.

The Michael Jackson estate signed a whooping USD 250M deal with Sony Corporation for up to 10 recordings until 2017. It guarantees the Michael Jackson estate at least USD 200M and would include Michael’s unreleased songs and remixes of his popular hits. That’s about 120 new materials for us if based on 12 cuts per album. And the first installment according to Sony will be due on November of this year.

This deal surpassed Jay-Z’s previous music industry record of USD 150M deal with Live Nation Entertainment. But I am happier for Michael’s kids as the deal profits will so to their trust funds, sharing it with Katherine Jackson. Also, this deal will zero out Michael’s debt.

I Miss You Michael

Here’s more good news, the documentary film “This Is It” grossed USD 252M worldwide, the most of any concert film ever. And it brought USD 100M more to the Michael Jackson’s estate. The kids’ future are now secured and that’s what Michael could have wanted.

It’s a bittersweet victory, from my perspective. It could have been fulfilling if Michael’s still with us. But it’s part of life’s mystery and though it’s hard to accept, I will move on to continue his legacy.

Laguna is the first thing that pops into our mind when we hear the word resort, especially to Metro Manila residents. I’ve been to several hot springs and I’ve said it many times that I’ll never be coming back. Not because the Laguna resorts are not good but they’re just too crowdy for me. As a working girl, I find it exhausting planning on outings and when at the place, I easily get frustrated especially when the website or brochure is different from what the actual is.

A couple of years ago, the previous company I worked with had our summer outing at this resort called Mount Sea Grand Resort. The first time I saw it, I immediately fell in love with the place. Since then, I boast my experiences and how Mount Sea Grand Resort changed my perception on resorts. It is located at Tanza, Cavite, a 2 hour drive from Manila. Don’t be confused, there are two Mount Sea Resorts, the other is the Fiesta Resort which is near Island Cove. This resort that am referring to is the Grand Resort, which is actually a businessman’s hotel complete with five-star amenities/facilities and a spectacular seafront.

Days before the fight, many had predicted that this is a sure win for Manny Pacquiao and it came true. Manny Pacquiao defeated Joshua Clottey in their 12 rounds fight via unanimous decision retaining his Welterweight champion title. No doubt Manny is still an undisputed pound for pound fighter in the world. To date, Manny has 51 wins, and 38 of those wins are knockouts.
The Fedoran is one will the Filipino in saying Congratulations Manny Pacquiao! I am tossing the Fedora hat just for you.

I love Michael Jackson so much and I am still not able to accept the reality that he’s gone. You can tell from my blog title that he has been my inspiration in creating this blog. Today, I’ve been to our Michael Jackson fans club meeting and we talked for hours, almost everything about Michael and how he had impacted our lives. We always get together if our schedules permit. One of the things we talked about was this game called Plants vs. Zombies. I am not into games but since they mentioned a zombie that looked like Michael Jackson was on it, I decided to purchase the game. Though PopCap’s not claiming that the dancing zombie is not Michael, I still think that zombie was patterned after him. I mean, the Thriller costume and the glove. Hmm..

A mob of fun-loving zombies is about to invade your home, and your only defense is an arsenal of 49 zombie-zapping plants. Use peashooters, wall-nuts, cherry bombs and more to mulchify 26 types of zombies before they can reach your front door. Each zombie has its own special skills, so you’ll need to think fast and plant faster to combat them all. But be careful how you use your limited supply of greens and seeds… as you battle the fun-dead, obstacles like a setting sun, creeping fog and a swimming pool add to the challenge. And with five game modes to dig into, the fun never dies! PopCap

Plants vs. Zombies was released by PopCap Games, Inc. last May 5, 2009. Yes, it’s been around before June 25, 2009, Michael’s death. The goal of Plants vs. Zombies is to protect your home from ever more powerful waves of invading zombies by buying and placing various kinds of anti-zombie plants on your lawn. Zombie attacks come in five stages of 10 levels each:
Stage 1: Day takes place during the day. Your lawn is five rows tall.
Stage 2: Night takes place during the night. Your lawn is five rows tall and you can use nighttime plants.
Stage 3: Pool takes place during the day. Your lawn is six rows tall, two of which are taken up by your pool.
Stage 4: Fog takes place during the night. Your lawn is six rows tall (including two pool rows) and part of the lawn is obscured by fog.
Stage 5: Roof takes place during the day on your roof. Your roof is five rows tall.
While there are no points in Plants vs. Zombies, there are two resources you can accumulate and spend: money and sun.
I am still new to playing Plants vs. Zombies but I tell you, at Stage 1, am already addicted.
All photos used and some parts of this blog are courtesy of PopCap. Visit their website at http://www.popcap.com to purchase the Plants vs. Zombies legitimately.

Changing Lives: Timbaland Shock Value II Concert Tour

Guess who’s coming to Manila? Justin Timberlake!!! Yeah, the man is visiting Manila with Jojo and Timbaland on March 27, 2010 for the Changing Lives: Timbaland Shock Value II Concert Tour. This will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.
Justin shared the spotlight with JC Chasez at their popular boy band ‘N Sync between 1995 and 2002. He went solo late 2002 with his debut album Justified which sold more than 7 million copies worldwide. He has appeared in various films but the most popular was his role as Jacques “Le Coq” Grande in The Love Guru. In 2009, GQ Magazine named Justin Timberlake as the “Most Stylish Man in America”.
Joanna Noelle Blagden Levesque in real life is known as JoJo professionally. I’ve got to like JoJo when she participated in “Come Together Now”, a charity single to benefit the victims of the 2004 Asian Tsunami and the 2005 Hurricane Katrina. She’s really a darling. And I loved her as Hailey Rogers in the movie Aquamarine.
Timbaland is an American Grammy Award-winning record producer, singer and rapper. He was the producer behind Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds album. His voice can be heard on Justin’s SexyBack single.

I am definitely watching this concert! And I am excited to see Justin Timberlake!!!

Tickets are sold at TicketWorld (891-9999). Available seats VIP Php 4,500.00, Gold Php 3,000.00,
Silver Php 1,500.00 and Php 300.00 for Bronze. All proceeds of the concert will go to the PLDT Smart foundation.

Nokia OVI Exhibit

Strolling to SM Mall of Asia is at times productive. And guess what I’ve found.. The Nokia OVI Exhibit! So what is an OVI? According to Wikipedia:
Ovi by Nokia is the brand for Nokia’s Internet services. The Ovi services can be used from a mobile device, computer (through Nokia Ovi Suite) or via the web (Ovi.com). Nokia focuses on five key services areas: Games, Maps, Media, Messaging and Music. Nokia’s aim with Ovi is to include 3rd parties, such as operators and third-party services like Yahoo’s Flickr photo site. With the announcement of Ovi Maps Player API, Nokia has started to evolve their services into a platform, enabling third-parties to make use of Nokia’s Ovi services. It has some significance in that Nokia is moving deeper into the world of Internet services, where head-on competition with Microsoft, Google and Apple is inevitable.

As a Nokia phone owner, the OVI services are great. The OVI Suite allows me to organize and share my photos and PIM data between my computer and an phone. Ovi Sync synchronizes my contacts, calendar events and notes to ovi.com. This service is very important for me as it backs up my data to my computer and allow me to send it back to my phone. I can also edit my data, especially my contacts. However, auto-sync is not yet possible. I also have my OVI email address through Ovi Mail and I can access my mails through my phone or computer. There are lots of OVI services but I haven’t tried them all yet.
The Nokia OVI Exhibit at the SM Mall of Asia runs until March 31, 2010. If you’re in the area, I suggest you check out their booth and inquire more about the OVI services. Or visit www.ovi.com.
