Fedoranblogger's Blog

I used to sport short hair, most of my friends knew me coz of that. There was even a point wherein everyone started calling me Meg Ryan; we share the same hairstlye. Until last year, I decided to grow mine as I am fascinated by girls with those shiny long hair. I got too excited that I’ve had my first ever rebond last year just in time for my birthday. I never had it pony tied until mid-February when the sun’s heat was unbearable.

While doing my toiletry shopping last week, oh, I buy them quarterly as I hate running out of stuff. I checked out the shampoo section and got 3 bottles of different brands. My stylist told me to alternate my shampoo brand as it is healthy for my hair. When I was about to grab my usual conditioner, I saw Cream Silk’s Summer Shine Conditioner. I read through the back label and decided to grab 3 bottles since it is available for a limited time, maybe just this summer.

Cream Silk’s Summer Shine Conditioner

I’ve been using Cream Silk’s Summer Shine Conditioner for a week now and I say, it’s better than their regular conditioner. It has aqua-mineral technology which stores moisture to dried-out hair and UV blocker to protect hair from the sun’s dulling rays. The result is noticeable to my friends and workmates, they started to complement how healthy and shiny my hair is. I am so glad to discover Cream Silk’s Summer Shine Conditioner. Try it, it really works and a bottle costs less than Php 100.00.

This summer say goodbye to dull hair instead flaunt it. You’ll never know, a cute guy may notice how sweet your hair smells, how shiny it is and he may even ask you out.

Jericho Rosales’ on Chowking’s Orange Chicken Meals

Tired of those usual chicken meals? Chowking introduces their OH!some OH!range Combos.
Orange Chicken Rice with regular Coke at Php 84.00 and Orange Lauriat with regular Coke at Php 114.00. Diners save Php 8.00 on both combos. I have tried it and I say I loved it. You can really taste the orange in the sauce. And the chicken chunks were tender and serving was abundant. Overall the meal was sumptuous and appeased my hunger.

This is a must try dish, not to mention it’s affordable.

Classic Savory’s Combo C4 Meal

There’s this restaurant at my office building that I’ve never tried until yesterday. When I ask my friend where she want to eat, she just mentioned, “I want a full meal”. Since we’re running out of food choices at the nearby mall, I’ve suggested that we dine at Classic Savory.

Classic Savory History

Classic Savory has been around since 1950; their first branch was at Escolta. They are known for their special fried chicken marinated with their secret ingredients. And that’s what we ordered for lunch. There are several choices available on Classic Savory’s menu for meals that can be shared by two. Savory Combo C meals include 1/2 Fried Chicken, Pancit Canton, Rice, Special Turon and Tropical Cooler but diners are given choices of either Salt and Pepper Spareribs, Creamy Fish Fillet, Sweet and Sour Pork or Salt and Pepper Squid, inclusive on their combo meal.

My friend and I ordered Combo C meal with Salt and Pepper Squid as we both agreed on seafood since the combo meal was already meaty. We waited for about 10 minutes for our food to be served. The serving of Pancit Canton and Salt and Pepper Squid was disappointing as it was not enough to be shared. Their fried chicken was really tasty and cooked just right. Pancit Canton was almost tasteless and soggy so was the Salt and Pepper Squid, not to mention it’s almost unrecognizable as squid. Tropical cooler was Four Seasons in camouflage. Their Special Turon was spicy, I don’t know if it was really meant to be spicy or just because it was served on one platter with everything.

Overall for Php 385.00 the combo meal was decent. Savory’s Fried Chicken is one of the reasons I’ll definitely return. I’ll be taking my family with me on my next visit and we’ll try their other dishes and of course their fried chicken.

7-Elections

7-Eleven is an international chain of convenience stores which known for their Slurpee, a partially frozen beverage and Big Gulp, as the name implies drinks served large cups. Yesterday, 7-Eleven Philippines introduced their 7-Elections Presidential Gulp cups. I remember back in 2008, during the U.S. Presidential elections, 7-Eleven rolled out their 7-Elections Presidential coffee cups. Blue coffee cups for U.S. President Barrack Obama and red coffee cups for John McCain. As we know, blue and red are Republican and Democrat colors, respectively.

In line with our Philippine National Elections on May 2010, 7-Eleven Philippines launches their 7-Elections, an unofficial customer poll. Gulp drinkers simply choose their candidate based on the color of cups. Yellow for Noynoy Aquino, blue for Dick Gordon, orange for Manny Villar, red for Joseph Estrada, green for Gilbert Teodoro and multi-colored cup are shared by Nick Acosta, Jamby Madrigal, Eddie Villanueva, JC de los Reyes, Vetellano Acosta and for abstain or undecided voters. It may seem a bit biased for the 5 candidates to share just one cup and share it again with undecided ones. I dunno but something just don’t fit.

7-Elections Presidential Gulp Cups

How does it work? Once you’ve chosen your candidate cup, the 7-Eleven cashier will scan the bar code for your vote to be counted. Since 7-Eleven is serving the public 24 by 7, anyone can join this campaign, even non-registered voters. According to the 7-Election representative, this activity will run until May 4, 2010 and promised the public that 7-Eleven swore that they will not run out of 7-Election cups. Results will be published online at wwww.7-elections.com.ph.

7-Elections Representative

Customers can also make their vote heard on Facebook. Simply keep the receipt of your 7-Election Gulp cup and enter your details and TX code found on your receipt at wwww.7-elections.com.ph/regigter. It takes approximately 48 hours after time of registration for your votes to be verified. Reading through the disclaimer, emails may be used for future 7-Eleven marketing emails.

Grab a Gulp today and make your vote count.

Dear Readers,

Earlier, news circulated in web that an official statement was released by the local producers concerning the VIP Ticket holders’. It was stated that VIP ticket holders will be getting autographed Paramore cd/s(?), a Paramore Live In Manila t-shirt that were sold in public and a meet and greet for future foreign acts under the same producer who brought Paramore in Manila.
However, this still need confirmation and I will be soon updating everyone as this post has been controversial as of this writing. I had removed my original content and replaced with this until I get validation regarding the previously released statement.

I was at the Paramore Live Manila concert last night. Yeah, technically I was there. Not in the venue but outside. Since my office is just at the MOA complex, I spent my lunch break to check out the concert. There are two concert grounds at MOA, the bigger venue right across the IMAX theatre where Ne-yo, David Cook and David Archuleta held theirs. But with Paramore, their venue was the smaller one beside the SMX Convention Center. The reason? It’s a work week and the tenants/offices at the One E-Com center are working so it’s not possible to held concerts on the bigger venue. Only weekend concerts are held there. That’s a trivia for you guys should you be wondering why some of you got lost a while ago searching for Paramore.

Paramore is an American rock band with members Hayley Williams, Josh Farro, Jeremy Davis, Zack Farro and Taylor York. They’ve been performing since 2004. Their latest album Brand New Eyes is so far their best highest charting album after All We Know Is Falling and Riot! The band is so good that their first nomination was for the Grammys’ back in 2008 and ever since Paramore’s been tapped for other music awards.

Filipino rock band Callalily started the concert for Paramore. When news came out that they were doing the front act for the show, music fans went crazy. I’ve been to several forums bashing the group. It seemed that fans do not appreciate Callalily that much. Whatever the issue is, it’s outside this blog post. Enough of that, here’s something that caused an uproar of emotions at the Paramore concert. Last minute announcements were made switching VIP and Gold ticket holders’ place in the venue. Apparently the concert producers acted as if they were concerned with VIP’s getting hurt due to slammers. So they’ve decided to have the Gold ticket holders stay in front. I know some friends holding VIP tix who were furious, I mean who wouldn’t anyways? Paying more to get a better view then without prior notice shooing them away to the Gold area? That’s a big no no!

But when Paramore started performing, everyone at the venue somehow have forgotten about the commotion, even for 2 hours. They opened the concert with Ignorance from their Brand New Eyes album. Followed by Crushcrushcrush, Thats What You Get, Looking Up, Careful, Let The Flames Begin, Never Let This Go, The Only Exception, Pressure, For a Pessimist, I’m Pretty Optimistic, Where The Lines Overlap. They did songs from all their albums including Decode, a soundtrack from Twilight. Encore songs were Misery Business and Brick by Boring Brick.

Prior to ending the show Hayley introduced Justin York, Paramore’s touring member to replace Josh Farro who is planning his wedding.

It was really one hell of a concert. Too bad I wasn’t able to get in but it was all worth it. I could see Hayley in her white Thrilla in Manila shirt from the video wall. She’s definitely adorable and so good. I so love the part where she asked for a band photo with the concert goers on the background. It was the sweetest ever.

Photo from Hayley’s Tumblr

And let me just share this tweet from Hayley, she posted it at 11pm, an hour after the concert ended:

SICK SHOW BRO!!! Manila, did we win you over? Tonight was the best way to finish off an insanely fun tour. Gonna backflip into the pool now. Hayley

Here’s a link of the lucky fan TweetPhoto when Hayley threw her eyeglasses after the concert, he was there at the right time at the right place.

Thank you to Azrael for the photo. More of Azrael’s photos of the Paramore Live In Manila concert are available at his blog.

They say when lady luck frowns at you, better be ready. Yesterday I had my share of unfortunate events, and I say it was a series of unfortunate events. I was surprised though that it was not just me who had a bad bad Monday. And here’s how my story goes:
Early in the morning while I was charging my iPod, a pop up window appeared instructing me to download an iTunes update. I hit ok and went through my browsing. After an hour, I realized I was running late for work, so I’ve pressed the eject button on iTunes. I checked my iPod and noticed that the “Synchronizing” message is not moving. I’ve waited for minute then 5 more minutes before realizing that my iPod froze. I sent messages to friends seeking help on how to restart it, they all replied and I did what I was told but it didn’t work. So, off I go to work.
At the office, I heard that our MS Excel version was downgraded from 2007 to 2003. I was furious at first since I’ve got no use for the older version and that my files are working completely fine with 2007. Anyways, I went on to login to my MS Outlook until I got a message that I got locked out. I haven’t changed my password nor have forgotten it. I know my passwords by heart and just find it amusing that it’s not taking it. I gave up after a few tries and decided to check on my office system and login too. But then, I got locked out too! I was beginning to be frustrated for these reasons.
I decided to call it quits with my MS Outlook and office tool and thought that I needed to get a break and grab some lunch. I checked my wallet and found a few pesos in it. I cursed realizing that I had left my money and atm card at my back pack home. My workmates offered to lend me some for me to get by the day instead of going home battling the heat to get some cash. I was so timid accepting the offer since I wouldn’t really dare going out the heat.
Nothing much happened after that. I was able to breeze through my tasks at hand. For some reasons after restarting my computer, my passwords were accepted. Weird huh but am thankful. For my iPod, i took it at the Power Mac store to have it checked. I guess am still lucky when I was told I just need to jump start it to work again. What they did was pressed the Menu and Play buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appeared. And presto, my iPod is back to functioning, it’s just that it’s almost drained since it was frozen for several hours. Good thing my friend had her charger so I kindly asked her to charge it for me.
Work is over and it was time to head home. I boarded the jeepney but on my way to the terminal, I was thinking of getting a cab instead since it was humid and heat was unbearable. But thinking, am not rushing anyway so I better take the jeep instead. On my ride home, I got so nervous when three guys boarded the jeepney, one sat beside the driver and the other two were on the rear side. On my fear of being into an uncomfortable situation, I hurriedly went down the jeep on the next stop. For my readers outside the Philippines, that scenario was actually part of the held up process. Wherein the man sitting beside the driver will either point a gun or knife at him while the two other guys at the rear end will do their thing and ransack the passengers belongings. I was lucky to get a nice cab and was able to get home safe.
The day has ended and I hope that my cursed Monday’s over. I couldn’t take round two of the series of unfortunate events. Just a reminder to everyone, be safe and always remember to pray, it wouldn’t hurt remembering to do so. 🙂

ASUS is revolutionizing the new digital era by launching the DR-900 E-Reader, which is no doubt their answer to competitor Apple’s iPad.

ASUS DR-900 E-Reader

ASUS DR-900, a slim and chic 9″ E-Reader with Wi-Fi or optional 3G connectivity that displays crisp, paper-like pages for optimal reading comfort. The DR-900 boasts an incredibly long battery life, enabling users to read over 10,000 pages, or twenty 400-page novels, on a single charge.
This E-Reader was launched March 2, 2010 at the CeBIT 2010. CeBIT is the world’s largest trade fair showcasing digital IT and telecommunications solutions for home and work environments. At this year’s CeBIT, ASUS has set aside a special Green Design Product zone to showcase the wide-ranging innovations that empower consumers keen on going Green. The Green innovations employed in the design, development and manufacturing of ASUS’ notebooks, Eee PC netbooks, EeeBox PCs, LED monitors and motherboards have garnered the company numerous eco-label certifications.

DR-900 E-Reader Launch at Cebit

According to Asustek CEO Jerry Chen, the DR-900 E-Reader will be available in the market by June during the Computex 2010 in Taipei.
Computex Taipei is the largest computer exhibition in Asia and the second largest in the world, next to CeBIT in Germany.
As of the moment, selling price yet to be determined. Am guessing the DR-900 E-Reader price most likely will range between USD 499.00 and USD 800.00 but am keeping my fingers crossed that it’ll be cheaper. For now, I just have to drool over this gadget and hope that I can afford one.
