Week 2 Voted Off Finalists, Photo from American Idol

American Idol Season 9 started with 24 finalists. Four of them had the first week as their last performance. Janell Wheeler, Ashley Rodriguez, Joe Munoz and Tyler Grady were eliminated.
On week 2 of the eliminations, another 4 aspiring Idols were voted off: John Park, Jermaine Sellers, Michelle Delamor and Haeley Vaughn. Prior to their individual performances, the group of 20 did their own version of Black Eyed Peas’ I Got A Feeling. Danny Gokey from Season 8 sang My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me from his debut album. Danny is known by Idol fans as “the guy with the tragedy” after his wife died a month before his audition.
What’s to look forward to this week? The Top 12 Anerican Idol finalists will be revealed. That means four more contestants’ journey will end.
American Idol is aired at QTV 11, Wednesdays to Fridays, 6:00 PM in the Philippines.

My Fave Performance this week is Lee Dewyze’s rendition Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars

After last week’s announcement of The Top 24 for American Idol, fans like me took time to really think who’s gonna be this season’s winner and what are the possible songs they’re gonna perform. We’ve seen the audition tapes, most of them have Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Taylor Swift as their musical influences. And am pretty positive that we’ll be hearing more of their rendition.
This week, the Top 24 performed in batches, girls and boys. If you’ve missed their song choices, which is by the way based on the Top 10 Hits from the Hot 100 Chart, don’t fret coz here’s the list I read on American Idol website:
For the Girls:
Paige Miles – “All Right Now” by Free
Ashley Rodriguez – “Happy” by Leona Lewis
Janell Wheeler – “What About Love” by Heart
Lilly Scott – “Fixing A Hole” by The Beatles
Katelyn Epperly – “Oh Darling” by The Beatles
Haeley Vaughn – “I Want To Hold Your Hand” by The Beatles
Lacey Brown – “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac
Michelle Delamor – “Fallin’” by Alicia Keys
Didi Benami – “The Way I Am” by Ingrid Michaelson
Siobhan Magnus – “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak
Crystal Bowersox – “Hand In My Pocket” by Alanis Morrisette
Katie Stevens – “Feeling Good” by Michael Bublé
For the Boys:
Todrick Hall – “Since U Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson
Aaron Kelly – “Here Comes Goodbye” by Rascal Flatts
Jermaine Sellers – “Get Here” by Oleta Adams
Tim Urban – “Apologize” by OneRepublic
Joe Muñoz – “You And I Both” by Jason Mraz
Tyler Grady – “American Woman” by The Guess Who/Lenny Kravitz
Lee Dewyze – “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol
John Park – “God Bless The Child” by Billie Holiday
Michael Lynche – “This Love” by Maroon 5
Alex Lambert – “Wonderful World” by James Morrison
Casey James – “Heaven” by Bryan Adams
Andrew Garcia – “Sugar, We’re Going Down” by Fall Out Boy
The performances video are now up at the American Idol official website and You Tube. Am sure you have your bets already but for me, am still in the process on checking. I must admit, their first performance was not that good yet. There are things they need to improve on. It’ll get better as the season continue, after all the search has just started.
Just want to share this portion of American Idol. I can’t find any video of Lacey Brown’s What A Wonderful World. I really think she’s good. I love the song so much and I never thought I’d hear a nice version again. Lacey’s not my bet for this season but she already won my heart through the song. She by the way made it to the Top 24 list! It is indeed a wonderful world.

Being a huge Ellen DeGeneres fan, I decided to watch American Idol, the reality show that changed the lives of David Cook, David Archuleta, Jennifer Hudson and Kris Allen. I was too eager to see how Ellen is as a judge. I’ve been used to watching her on tv doing her hosting, which I really really adore. I admit, with her being part of Idol, will make me watch the show religiously. Anyways, last night’s 2-hour special airing, American Idol revealed the following first 7 semi-finalist:
Michael “Big Mike” Lynche, Astoria NY – He was reportedly kicked out of American Idol after his father revealed that Big Mike made it to the Top 24.
Didi Benami, Hollywood CA – She recalled the tragic loss her best friend and she’s living her legacy by joining American Idol.
Aaron Kelly, Sonestown PA – Following David Archuleta’s foot steps as he is the youngest of this season’s batch.
Todrick Hall, Arlington TX – Claimed that he never had formal voice lessons as he is born a dancer.
Lee Dewyze, Mount Prospect IL – He owns one of the most powerful voices amongst his competitors. And he reminds me of Kris Allen so much, physically speaking and David Cook.
Casey James, Cool TX – Who wouldn’t remember James? He’s the guy who was asked to remove his shirt at the audition.
Katelyn Epperly, Des Moines IA – A very talented lady, lead vocalist and pianist of her indie folk band “Katelyn & the Bruises”.

I’ll be watching American Idol again tonight to complete the list of the lucky 24. And I must say this, there is no other better replacement to Paula Abdul than Ellen DeGeneres! She’s a natural and just adorable. She created a balance to the show, errr, with Simon. Her sincerity won the hearts of so many viewers and even at work, I hear so many praises about her being part of American Idol.
